The Levi Pearson Scholarship Fund
The Levi Pearson Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of assisting young men and women of the Christian Faith in Clarendon, Sumter, Williamsburg, and Lee Counties with financial assistance in obtaining a college education. The funds for this scholarship will be administered by the Selection Committee of the Levi Pearson Scholarship Fund and the amount of the scholarship will be determined by the funds allocated from fundraising efforts.
Please read carefully the requirements of the scholarship application process. All submitted information must be postmark by the May 1, 2021 deadline.
Must be a resident of Clarendon, Sumter, Lee or Williamsburg County
Must be a (Junior) rising senior in good standings
Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
Must have applied or considered at least three colleges or universities
Active Member of a Christian based Congregation
THE SELECTION PROCESS
Recipients will be selected by a seven (7) panel judging committee. The judges will evaluate
eligible students based on, but not limited to the following criteria:
Academic Record and Cumulative GPA
Quality of essay and recommendations
Community service and leadership background
Statement of financial need
Submission of all application packet components
Winners will be notified by the Scholarship Fund Committee by May 15, 2021; all decisions are final. No submitted material will be returned. All applications not completed in its entirety will not be processed.
THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD DISBURSEMENT
Scholarship awards are to be applied towards tuition, fees, books, supplies and/or equipment required at the educational institution. All scholarships will be disbursed directly to the college or university after verification of registration for the
Fall semester or quarter. If the student is unable to attend in the fall the award will be returned to the scholarship fund.
The following information must be submitted as one complete package. (It will not be accepted separately):
Completed application (must be typed).
A current official transcript of all high school and college courses taken to date (the seal must appear on transcript).
Copy of ACT/SAT Scores
A fifteen hundred (1500) word essay: The educational impact of Mr. Levi Pearson and Mr. Hammett Pearson in the 20th Century has significantly impacted the educational system in Clarendon County and the World in the 21st Century. Detail, in your own words, their roles in educational changes, and what are some of the significant changes that have occurred as a result of their impetus… particularly highlight changes that affected you and others in your/their academic pursuits.

A copy of the letter of acceptance from the college or university you plan to attend. (Senior Year)
Three (3) letters of recommendations are required: teacher, advisor or counselor, community leader or volunteer supervisor, adult mentor, youth minister or Pastor. All letters must be signed and dated. See the enclosed Recommendation Form to give to your references to help them in writing the letters.
One (1) professional school photograph (3" x 5" preferred, wallet-size accepted). Photos with watermarks will not be accepted
All materials must be postmark by the deadline to be considered. (May 1, 2021)
The Levi Pearson Scholarship Committee reserves the right to use the name and/or photograph of scholarship award recipients in promotional materials designed to increase awareness of the Scholarship Fund, and for soliciting funding or advertise fundraising events for the Scholarship Fund. By accepting scholarship awards, recipients agree to the above statement.
